NOVEMBER 2022 — By 2025, the digital transformation market is expected to climb to US$3.2 trillion, with companies seeking to automate and enhance how they work.
For businesses, going digital is the way forward. Given the current global conditions of inflation, supply chain disruptions, and the looming recession, it is necessary to adopt new and efficient systems for businesses to thrive.
Establishing Partnerships That Progress the Industry
Amidst evolving trends, RP has driven fruitful collaborations that upskill and advance the automation industry.
One such collaboration was initiated by RP alumna Yean Shan, a Solution Consulting Team Lead at Workato Pte Ltd. Earlier this year, Yean Shan connected the Assistant Programme Chair of RP’s Diploma in Business Information Systems (DBIS), Ms Sim Biow Ee with her employer. This connection established through our alumna has paved the way for RP to ink a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with her company.
The MOU was signed during the “Workato on Campus: Celebrating 2022, Launching 2023” event, held in November 2022, and is part of ongoing efforts to connect with professionals and partners, furthering collaborative opportunities.
Cultivating Skills in the Automation Workforce
During the event, Ms Mary Yeo, Senior Lecturer of RP School of Infocomm received the “Outstanding Automation Educators of the Year” award from Mr Allan Teng, Founder & Senior Advisor, Asia-Pacific and Japan of Workato.
The award recognises her efforts to promote enterprise automation in curriculum and industry. For example, under her guidance and encouragement, 148 Year 2 students from RP’s DBIS achieved certifications from Workato. Receiving the award also reflects RP’s commitment to working with partners and building a workforce with in-demand skills such as workflow automation and digital transformation.
Talent Development in Key Areas
RP’s partnership and support of Workato is part of an overall drive to prepare the next generation for in-demand careers in automation, equipping them with the latest skills that the industry needs.
Workato is highly invested in progressing automation within the region, and has been partnering with Institutes of Higher Learning like RP to develop capabilities in the automation industry.
Through this partnership, students from DBIS can undergo hands-on lessons with Workato’s accessible workflow automation platform and acquire recognised certifications in automation. New internships and final year project opportunities, such as short-term attachments with Workato’s Solution Consulting and Pre-Sales Team, ensures students are equipped with future-ready skills.
The collaboration also upskills staff and students in key areas, including workflow automation and digitalisation transformation. Such capability building helps drive automation across organisations and expands the potential of the automation industry.
Digitalisation: Providing a Platform for Training and Growth
The MOU is one of a multitude of other initiatives RP is undertaking to develop digital capabilities.
To further skills training and applied learning in areas such as smart technology, RP has established labs in collaboration with Microsoft, Samsung, StarHub, and cybersecurity firms RSA and Ensign InfoSecurity. We also offer courses for companies and professionals to upskill in key areas, such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
As digitalisation becomes a norm in global industries, RP stays abreast of new changes, building proficiencies in automation and digitalisation, and keeping up with the ever-evolving landscape.
