Hands of Hopes!

As a collaborative Youth Corps Leaders Programme initiative by School of Hospitality (SOH) and School of Business (SBZ) students, the Hands of Hopes project significantly benefited underprivileged children from the MacPherson area. Executed from December 2024 to April 2025 in partnership with Care Community Services Society (CCSS) (Carekids), the project provided educational and interactive activities to build soft skills and boost self-confidence.

Students applied a range of skills from their academic modules such as Leadership and Teamwork, Communication, and Event Planning. They recruited and trained more than 30 volunteers, honing their leadership abilities, learning to design meaningful community activities, and working effectively as teams to ensure smooth execution. The project also allowed them to integrate social responsibility into real-world action, reinforcing the values they learned in class.

RP students organised 5 engagement sessions, including activities such as homework clubs, carnival fiestas, escape games, sports relays, and creative arts like paper rockets and tote bag design. These sessions encouraged the children to engage in creative learning, develop life skills, and express themselves in a safe, supportive environment.

The Hands of Hopes project positively impacted 7 key organising members (EXCO), over 30 RP volunteers, and 50 underprivileged children in the MacPherson area. By the end of the project, the students not only made a tangible difference in the lives of the children but also developed leadership and community service skills that will stay with them as they move forward in their careers and community involvement.
