Autodesk CAD Training (AutoCAD)

Have you always wanted to develop professional two-dimensional (2D) drawings?

This course provides a step-by-step introduction to Autodesk CAD (AutoCAD) interface, including its fundamental functions and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) workflow processes.

Participants will learn how to create 2D drawings with basic tools, as well as how to modify a simple drawing. Additional productivity tools available in AutoCAD will also be introduced.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Be proficient in using basic AutoCAD commands and functions

  • Navigate basic AutoCAD workspace and user interface

  • Use drawing, editing, constructing, and viewing tools

  • Insert blocks, text, hatching, and dimensions

  • Set up layers, styles, templates, and plot layouts

  • Use Autodesk AutoCAD and appreciate its relation to other Autodesk products

Who Should Attend?

Draftsman, draughtsman, designer, architect, engineer (in the electrical, marine, mechanical, civil industries), tertiary students, and others who are keen to learn and apply the fundamentals of 2D drawings using AutoCAD software.

Entry Requirement

Participants are expected to have the ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, and be familiar with the general operations of a personal computer (PC).

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

Upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement, participants will also be awarded:

  • Certificate of Completion by Autodesk

There is no examination for this course.

Trainer's Profile

Mr. Vincent Lee is a certified Autodesk Instructor for AutoCAD and a lecturer at Republic Polytechnic’s (RP) School of Engineering for 12 years. He has extensive experience using CAD and LEAN methodologies for various projects with multiple companies over the last 12 years. In his recent secondment to the Centre of Innovation for Supply Chain Management, he gained exposure to new technologies such as robotic process automation (RPA). Leveraging on his industry experience, Vincent conducts classes and courses on RPA. Prior to becoming an educator at RP, Vincent has around eight years of working experience with local small and medium-sized enterprises as well as different multinational operations in Singapore, relating to engineering and manufacturing sector, mainly in areas of factory automation, plant engineering for bulk material handling, inkjet manufacturing, and flexible circuits manufacturing. He started his career as a Design Engineer, and later moved on to Project Management, Process, and Product Engineering in multinational companies in Singapore. He has been using AutoCAD over a span of 20 years and is keen to teach others the benefits of CAD software to improve their productivity. 

Ms. Tan Zhen Ling is an Autodesk Certified Instructor for AutoCAD and Autodesk Certified User for Fusion 360. She has more than 13 years of experience with the AutoCAD software.
