Photogrammetry with Unmanned Aircraft (Classroom & Asynchronous)

Keen to learn how to generate various aerial map formats using unmanned aircraft (UA)?

The advancement of UA technology brings about more effective and productive means to generate two-dimensional (2D), three-dimensional (3D), and orthographic maps at one’s fingertips. Through this course, you will get to explore photogrammetry workflow which includes pre-processing, accuracy assessment, and post-processing using Pix4DMapper, a professional mapping software. You will also learn to plan and execute autonomous flight missions to collect aerial images for photogrammetry processing.

The course includes live photogrammetry flight exercises, which aims to provide you with a positive and empowering learning experience. Upon completion of the course, participants will be well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and confidence to apply the concepts learnt in their respective fields.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the theories behind photogrammetry and its capabilities

  • Comprehend the workflow and functions of Pix4DMapper

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D georeferenced representations of reality, including orthomosaics and 3D models

  • Acquire accurate geometric measurements and present deliverables to stakeholders using Pix4DMapper software

  • Plan and execute UA flight exercises to understand how flight parameters affect the quality of photogrammetry results

  • Professionals in Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing, Surveyors, Agricultural, Architectural and Civil Engineering sectors who are keen to use UA technology to generate various map formats with photogrammetry

  • UA enthusiast or traditional photogrammetry users who are keen to perform photogrammetry using UA technology

Entry Requirement

Some experience in UA flight operations is expected. You are also strongly recommended to possess at least a Class A Rotorcraft UA Pilot Licence (7kg Multirotor).

Certification

Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.

For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
