The next key thrust focuses on the needs of community-dwelling seniors. RP is working with seniors and community stakeholders to co-create solutions to enable seniors to age gracefully.
The RP Community Living Lab was launched in January 2020. It is a real-life, user-centric, open innovation ecosystem in the community to promote wellness, active, and healthy ageing.
Community: The Community Living Lab places community-dwelling seniors at the centre of innovation, with the elderlies taking an active part in the innovation process. It allows open exploration to discover emerging usages, behaviours, and opportunities.
Real-life Environment: An authentic environment at Community Partners and Social Service Agencies allows on-site engagement, co-creation, implementation, experimentation and evaluation of innovative solutions and services based on needs of community-dwelling seniors.
Living Lab Expertise: Utilising RP’s existing technology, infrastructure, and staff across its seven schools, the Community Living Lab aims to promote collective intelligence through a transdisciplinary approach.
Industry Partnership: Through RP’s extensive network of industry partners, innovations can be co-designed by users and producers for quick implementation and scale-up for mass adoption.
Organisation and Methods: Through the co-creation and exchange of best practices, evidence-based approaches, and evaluation on health and wellness concepts, products and services, we aim to build capability of our staff, students, and community partners to benefit the community at large.
RP collaborated with Woodlands Health Campus to organise the "Sedentary Behaviour and Healthy Eating" webinar that provided practical tips to viewers to reduce inactive behaviour, and to eat healthily at home with easy cooking hacks.
RP worked with Cornerstone Senior Centre to organise a Dragon Boat Active Ageing Event for 80 senior citizens, their families and volunteers from Ang Mo Kio. This activity was planned in conjunction with the GetActiveSingapore! movement by SportSG and was supported by Our SG Fund.
RP has been actively working with the community and Lien Foundation to implement ‘Gym Tonic’, an evidence-based strength training programme for seniors above the age of 65 at venues such as Care Corner Active Ageing Hub @ Toa Payoh West and Bishan Community Club.
