A team comprising staff researchers, students and alumni from Republic Polytechnic’s (RP) School of Sports, Health and Leisure (SHL) came together to develop a first-of-its-kind platform called iPLAY that can aid children with motor developmental delays.

iPLAY, won the Ministry of Education's (MOE) Innergy Award (Silver) in 2020. It uses an 'exergaming platform' to assist educators and therapists in assessing motor skills, tracking motor milestones, and providing motor intervention. The info collected from iPLAY can be interpreted with empirical-based algorithm to monitor and improve gross motor proficiencies of pre-schoolers with customised interactive games. iPLAY's contemporary intervention approach with automated data tracking and interpretation is currently not available in the early childhood and special needs settings. This adds to its uniqueness.

On 15 December 2021, Dr Jernice Tan, Principal Investigator of the iPLAY project and Senior Lecturer from SHL, was invited to share about the plus points of iPLAY with listeners of CNA983 Health Matters.
