Embark on this SG-Coach Programme to equip participants with the knowledge and skills on 'how to coach’, and to reinforce the understanding on 'why you coach'. This is done through the introduction of values and principles in sports (VPS) which include the Game For Life (GFL) practical session.
This course includes theories which are supported by evidence-based research, and practical approaches for coaches to apply their learning on the field. Participants will examine their own coaching philosophies, learn to incorporate the teaching of values through sports coaching and understand the basic theories and skills of sports coaching.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be educated on the following sports training concepts:
- Values and Principles in Sport (VPS) (with Game For Life Practical) *Equivalent to VPS Certification
- Sports Development System
- Safe Sport* and Sport Safety *Equivalent to Safe Sport Certification for coaches
- Theories of Coaching
- The Coaching Process
- Building a Positive Culture

This curriculum is designed for learners taking the blended SG-Coach Theory Level 1 course. It consists of SG-Coach Theory e-learning modules, face-to-face classroom sessions, SG-Coach Theory mock and official exams.
Who should attend?
- Suitable for individuals who are keen to acquire the SG-Coach Programme certification as the first step towards being a professional coach registered with the National Registry of Coaches (NROC)
- VPS with GFL is a prerequisite for the GFL Mentoring and Coaching Certification programme.
Note: The SG-Coach Programme replaces the National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP) as of 27 March 2015. Holders of NCAP Theory Certificates will not be required to attend the SG-Coach Level 1 Theory Programme

Entry Requirement
Minimum age of 18 years old.
The course and assessment will be conducted in English. It is recommended, although not required, that participants possess a credit in the English Language at the GCE O-Level, N(A)-Level or Employability Skills System (ESS) of Level 5.
Certification
Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
For courses with formal assessment component, participants will be awarded the certification of completion upon passing the assessment. Otherwise, a certification of attendance will be issued instead upon meeting the 75% course attendance requirement.
