2016 - Launch of The Strength of the Human Spirit Exhibition
Launch of The Strength of the Human Spirit Exhibition
The staff and students from the Diploma in Mass Communication (DMC) collaborated with the Singapore Red Cross for the Red Cross Great East Japan Project.
This project commenced in early-2015, where a team of students and lecturers went to Japan’s tsunami-affected regions to film and photograph the restoration efforts on the ground, showcasing the resilience of the survivors and how donations from Singapore have helped in the rebuilding of affected areas. A total of 6 videos, a photobook and photos were produced for the exhibition. The exhibition was launched by Minister MFA Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on 2 March at ION Orchard.
The students gained extraordinary valuable experiences from this trip, including opportunities to conceptualise, create and curate content for Red Cross. The students and lecturers were involved in media publicity of the exhibition, through radio, TV, print media and broadcast media. RP students also curated project photos to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the Great Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
This exhibition is roving at various locations around Singapore such as ION Orchard, Vivocity, Westgate, Star Vista, NTU and RP. RP students are also curating the exhibition at two locations. The students and lecturers were also involved in media publicity of the exhibition, and received extensive coverage through radio, TV, print media, broadcast and digital media. RP’s contribution and branding (logo, credits, etc.) was visible at various platforms such as the exhibition, photobook, media release, speeches and media.
