Bloomberg Polytechnic Challenge 2018
The Bloomberg Polytechnic Challenge, organised by Bloomberg LLP, is a competition for the five Polytechnics in Singapore. Out of the many online entries, a final group of 30 polytechnic students are chosen for the stock pitch challenge.
Selected students went through a crash course in stock pitching and made presentations to the panel of judges from Bloomberg on 8 June. The judging panel was made up of Heads of Department from the Sales and Marketing, Trading and News and Research teams in Bloomberg.
The students presented in teams comprising of members from different Polytechnics. During this challenge, the students learnt skills relevant to the industry and were tested on their ability to present and form objective and rationale arguments.
The stock pitch was based on two pre-selected stocks (namely Apple Inc and BlackBerry) and a final five students were chosen after the judges' assessment, analysis and grading of their presentations. Of the five winners, two students were from RP, Samuel Chan from SMC’s Diploma in Business & Social Enterprises (DBSE) (Renamed to Diploma in Business (DBIZ) with effect from AY2020 matriculation cohort) and Jasmine Lim, a Diploma in Mass Communication (DMC) student.
