As Singapore moves towards a cashless society with contactless payment, many of our elderly (seniors) still have to rely on others, including their children or more tech-savvy peers, to navigate an increasingly digitised environment. To help the seniors get on board Singapore’s cashless drive, POSB partnered Republic Polytechnic’s School of Management and Communication and People’s Association. The team worked on a cashless payment device pilot project for seniors, to help ensure they are not left behind in Singapore’s march towards becoming a Smart Nation.

Led by Zeff Chen and Joanna Tay, staff from Diploma in Business (DBIZ) (previously known as Diploma in Business & Social Enterprise), 120 DBSE students were involved in the project. They were involved in all phases from the design thinking phase of the Smart Senior device to the actual implementation of the pilot programme.
