The first SHRI HR Hackathon, which brought together leaders in HR innovation and development, and aspiring young HR leaders of tomorrow was held on 13 to 14 Jul 2018. The hackathon’s theme of “Create, Engage, Innovate HR”, called for practical and creative solutions for the challenge statements chosen by sponsor organisations.
RP's team was made up of three Year 1 and one Year 2 students from the Diploma in Human Resource Management with Psychology (DHRMP). Their solution was ranked third among the total of 16 submissions made by teams from two universities, four polytechnics and ITE.
Of the four challenge statements, the team selected Great Eastern’s challenge statement, which was: “How may Great Eastern on-board new employees to ensure that their levels of enthusiasm with the company are always kept high?” The students worked tirelessly through Friday night finalising their winning pitch and even developed a prototype of a mobile app that they proposed as a solution for the presentation.
The event ended with a sharing, followed by a Q&A session with guest-of-honour, Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower.
