Applied Digital Design

This one-day course teaches the basic design skills in visual communication design. It covers the basic design functions with design structures and guideline that are commonly used by professional designers. This course includes hands-on experience at designing the different elements of an electronic direct mailer (EDM) and newsletter from conceptualisation to distribution. Participants will learn to make use of grid layouts, colour management and design title text, to complete an EDM. Participants will also learn how to apply the skills taught for designing presentation covers and compose their own EDMs. 

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the common tools within the Microsoft PowerPoint Ribbon that can be used to design EDMs
  • Describe the FOUR(4) commonly used types of layouts for designing EDMs
  • Design EDMs using appropriate colour management and clearly written headlines

Certification

Participants will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance by Republic Polytechnic.
