RP School of Hospitality (SOH) is the only fully-fledged hospitality school among Singapore’s five polytechnics. Since our founding in 2008, we have built a reputation for educational excellence thanks to:
- Our industry-focused curriculum which is carefully crafted in close collaboration with key stakeholders and partners, like the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and SACEOS, and which has also been endorsed by numerous accreditation bodies and organisations including CIBTAC
- Our Problem-based Learning approach which also aims to develop our students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills in addition to them just learning facts and figures in the classroom
- Our hands-on approach to teaching, which include:
o Students going on various project attachments, such as the Formula One Grand Prix and Singapore International Water Week, and student overseas trips; as well as
o On-the-job training in key hospitality operations, thanks to our purpose-built learning facilities that simulate real-world hospitality workplaces, so that students can experience and learn how to overcome in advance the various challenges that they might encounter in a genuine working environment
But at SOH, we strongly believe in learning by doing – and nothing beats actual industry experience.
Our Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) provides our students opportunities to intern with established local and international hospitality providers and to pick up valuable work experience – both crucial for their development into industry-ready professionals.
Likewise, our IIP also responds directly to the needs of employers for capable hospitality employees by improving the talent pool in advance. Through our programme, organisations also get the opportunity to hire seasoned individuals who will be able to jump straight into a career in the dynamic hospitality sector by the time they graduate, thanks to their internship experience.
