Co-Curricular Activities

Co-Curricular Activities

Learning in School of Hospitality (SOH) extends far beyond the classroom. We offer a variety of student development programmes that support your personal well-being and overall development as a young professional helping you to transit into the working world. Republic Polytechnic also has close to 100 other co-curricular activities (CCAs) for students to choose from. Visit our CCA page to find out more.

SOH offers several CCAs to encourage you to discover passion for tourism and hospitality, as well as to showcase and develop your skills and talents:

SOH Club

The SOH Club is the official student body representing SOH students. More than just a leadership group, the SOH Club is a community where students come together to create meaningful experiences, foster friendships, and make a lasting impact. SOH Club allows students to explore their interests, develop skills, and build connections beyond the classroom. We provide opportunities for leadership development, networking, and hands-on experience through events, competitions, and industry collaborations. Being part of the SOH Club enhances personal growth, teamwork experience, and lasting friendships while contributing to a vibrant and dynamic campus life. Dedicated to enhancing student life, the SOH Club organises a variety of events, initiatives, and leadership opportunities that empower students to grow personally and professionally. From major campus-wide events like Open House, the Orientation Programme, and Welcome Camp to student-led initiatives such as Sports Day and Local & International Service-Learning Projects, the SOH Club provides countless opportunities for students to learn, lead, and give back.

Peer Supporters Programme

Selected student leaders will be trained as Peer Supporters (PS). Peer Supporters play a crucial role in creating a sense of acceptance and belonging among new students. They help identify peers who may need additional support and encourage them to seek assistance. New students will be paired with Peer Supporters to facilitate befriending sessions aimed at nurturing a supportive relationship between Year 1 students and their assigned PS. Peer Supporters contribute to building a strong school spirit at SOH by engaging students in various school-wide activities, such as the Orientation Programme and Student Leaders Camp. They also serve as mentors to help new students transition into polytechnic life while supporting current students in their holistic development.

Student Care Support

When you first join us, an SOH staff mentor will be assigned to you to offer help and guidance with any issues you may face in school or at home. There will also be opportunities to meet industry leaders and political officeholders to widen your perspectives on real-world issues. You can be assured that you will not be alone while adapting to a new learning environment. Learn more about our Student Care initiatives below.

National Youth Achievement Award & Youth Community Leadership Programme

Leadership at SOH goes beyond titles, it’s about character. SOH students who take part in National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) and Youth Community Leadership Programme (YCLP) embark on a journey of self-discovery and service. Through national platforms like NYAA & YCLP, our students engage in meaningful learning outside the classroom. From community service and outdoor expeditions to civic engagement, these programmes help them build resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of social responsibility—values that stay with them throughout their hospitality journey.
