Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBMS)
Hor Jin Hui
Diploma in Biomedical Sciences with Merit
Thanks to SAS’s robust articulation programme, Hor Jin Hui gained direct entry into Newcastle University’s three-year biochemistry honours’ degree course as a second-year student after graduating from DBMS in 2013.
She continued to shine as an undergraduate, receiving the Newcastle University International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship and a Research Scholarship from the Medical Sciences Faculty, before going on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with first-class honours.
Today, she is a research officer at the A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, specialising in the study of neuronal stem cells.
Over the past decade, more and more of our DBMS graduates are also admitted to the highly competitive NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine like:
Diploma in Biotechnology (DBIO)
Khalilatul Hanisah Binte Mohd
Diploma in Biotechnology with Merit
Many of our DBIO graduates go on to pursue further studies in a wide range of subjects including medical sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, food and nutrition, and even business. Khalilatul Hanisah Binte Mohd is one such example.
Despite being involved in three co-curricular activities, Hanisah excelled in her studies unfailingly and was inducted into the Director’s Roll year after year.
Shortly after graduating in 2015, she was awarded the Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud (LBKM) Prestigious Scholarship and was accepted to study at University College London.
Stephanie Victoria Tay Choo Gek
Diploma in Biotechnology
2013 Graduate, Valedictorian
Stephanie Victoria Tay Choo Gek, who graduated in the top 5% of her cohort in 2013, was the first ever SAS recipient of the A*STAR Undergraduate Scholarship to come from the Institute of Technical Education. The scholarship granted her direct entry into the second year of the Biological Sciences programme at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), among many other benefits.
She did her industry attachment with A*STAR’s Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) during her final year and made such a strong impression on her supervisors that they offered her a permanent position with the lab even before she graduated.
Stephanie is currently pursuing her PhD at NTU and is actively involved in campus life.
Diploma in Environmental Science (DENV)
Jason Ooi Jin Meng
Diploma in Environmental Science
The first DENV student to ever achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA, Jason Ooi Jin Meng regularly made the Director’s Roll of Honour semester after semester and even received an overseas National Parks Board (NParks) scholarship after graduating from SAS in 2015.
Jason represented RP in many programmes and competitions including the 2014 Challenge for the Urban & Built Environment (CUBE).
He also got to participate in the Singapore International Foundation’s Friendship Express 2013 cultural exchange and social innovation programme, where he worked with villagers in Malaysia and Indonesia to develop solutions to address various community issues such as poor water quality and livelihood and business.
Diploma in Marine Science and Aquaculture (DMAC)
Iliya Izzudin B Jalil
Diploma in Marine Science and Aquaculture
Joining the DMAC programme at SAS seemed like a natural choice for marine enthusiast Iliya Izzudin B Jalil, who graduated in 2017. His decision to combine his passion with his studies has served him well so far.
His consistent excellent academic performance saw him winning multiple awards at RP, including the Freshmen Scholarship, the Diploma Prize and the S.E.A. Aquarium Scholarship.
Iliya was also the recipient of a Resorts World Sentosa Scholarship and has secured a place to study marine biology at UNIVERSITY, Australia after he completes his National Service
Diploma in Materials Science (DMTS)

Anson graduated from DMTS in 2013 and went on to study Materials Science and Engineering at NTU, where he graduated with first-class honours.
Chew Su Yin
Diploma in Materials Science
Since graduating from DMTS, Chew Su Yin has been honing her knowledge and skills in materials-related fields in companies such as Singapore Test Services and Procter & Gamble, before landing her current job at US-based IMR Test Labs. Together with her team, Su Yin has been instrumental in helping the company achieve various accreditations such as ISO 17025, NADCAP, Pratt & Whitney Codes, and GE Aviation Codes.
She is currently a Lead Metallurgical Specialist and Quality Manager, responsible for overseeing the material testing departments of Chemistry, Mechanical and Metallurgy as well as the quality system of her company.
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPHM)
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences
A strong desire to make a positive impact on other people’s lives and health led Juliana Fransisca to enrol into the DPHM programme.
At SAS, Juliana was presented with many opportunities for hands-on learning, and the skills she acquired brought her a step closer to fulfilling her dreams. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) degree at the National University of Singapore.
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences
After graduating from DPHM, Ee Jia went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at the University of Queensland.
She was conferred First Class Honours and was offered the opportunity to do her postgraduate studies in Australia. However, she chose to return to Singapore and is currently a licensed pharmacist at Farrer Park Hospital.
