Optimum Nutrition for All Ages

From infancy to senior years, good nutrition is essential for a healthy, happy life. This course enables you to strive for optimal health at every stage of life. The concepts learnt will benefit both yourself and your loved ones.

Food Safety Course Level 1

 1 day


As a mandatory requirement for local food handlers of both retail and non-retail food businesses to pass WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1, this course will equip you with the knowledge and application skills to follow food safety and hygiene procedures and policies, as well as maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of premises.




Skills-Based Modular Courses

 

Applied Food Microbiology

Applied food microbiology focuses on the usage of microorganisms and enzymes in the industrial production of fermented food. Factors affecting the growth and response of microorganisms will be discussed. You will have hands-on experience producing fermented foods.

Food Analysis

This course focuses on the principles of analytical procedures as well as the advanced techniques used to provide information about the chemical composition, morphology, and physical properties of food materials.

Food Biotechnology

This course delves into fundamental biotechnological principles, exploring their application in enhancing food quality and supply through genetic engineering and the development of functional foods. Additionally, you will get to analyse case studies and delve into innovations in fortification, nutrigenomics, and processing substitutions.

Food Chemistry

This course focuses on food chemistry and its principles, including the study of food compositions and major components like carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. It will also build your understanding of microstructures, chemical interactions, and food processing for food product development.

Food Processing Technologies

This course covers the fundamentals of food processing. You will get to explore various food processing unit operations and preservation techniques including high-temperature treatments and water activity control. The course will also unveil insights into hygienic equipment design for food processing, handling, and storage, coupled with the application of prevalent process control systems.

Introduction to Food Additives

Through this course, you will get to learn about both natural and synthetic food additives. Their roles in the food systems will also be discussed.

Introduction to Food Engineering

This course guides you through essential concepts in food processing, from unit operations to mass and energy balance. It delves into key engineering principles like thermodynamics and material balances. You will also get to uncover the significance of thermal processing and equipment design, empowering you to enhance productivity in the field.

Nutrition through the Life Cycle

This course will provide you with insights on the changing nutritional requirements across the life cycle. The development of eating habits will also be discussed.

Principles of Human Nutrition

This course will provide you with an overview of macro and micronutrients. Dietary guidelines, nutrition strategies for special diets, and effects of food processing will also be covered.
