SOH Industry Day 2018 was attended by over 100 industry partners.  Themed “Future DNA for the New Hospitality”,  this year's focus was on trends affecting hospitality and service sectors in the next 3 to 5 years. With the onset of disruptive innovations and manpower shortage, it is crucial for hospitality professionals to bridge existing skills gaps to integrate technology and adopt a more forward-looking mindsets to keep up with rapid developments in the ever-changing hospitality sector.

The event was kicked off with sharing by Ms Yeoh Siew Hoon, Founder and Managing Director, WIT and Editorial Director of Northstar Travel Group, on “Trends That Matter & Lessons From My Universe”; Mr Bidyut Dumra, Head of Innovations – Ecosystems, DBS Bank, sharing “DBS Transformation Journey.. A Near Death Experience”; and Ms Isabel Choo, Insights Analyst, LinkedIn Talent solutions speaking on Getting Singapore’s Hospitality Workforce Future-Ready.

Ms Yeoh Siew Hoon also hosted the panel discussion with representatives from Singapore Tourism Board, M Social Singapore, Chope, BeMyGuest and Peatix on insights to the future of hospitality businesses in Singapore – the challenges, the trends and what the future DNA will be.

SOH also signed an MOU with Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to support the development of Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) related content and capabilities for the tourism industry, development of Final Year Projects for RP students, and exchange of expertise and industry domain knowledge. The collaboration aims to work towards an enhanced hospitality industry and will future-proof Singapore’s hospitality workforce.
