We are proud that RP SOH team emerged as Champions of the 2021 STR Virtual Student Market Study Competition. The winning team consisted Ruvena Wee, Sew Zee Cheen, Tay Zhi Peng and Teo Jia Hao, as well as their coach, Ms Celine Quek spent more than two months of intensive training in analysing more than ten comprehensive industry reports, and putting together a stellar presentation! Ms Celine Quek, who guided them every step and arranged to seek input from esteemed local industry experts, as well as faculty members.

Our heartiest congratulations on this amazing achievement! This would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of the team, they worked tirelessly for months to prepare their market study, analysing key data to provide an overview of the tourism and hotel landscape in Singapore. A 30-minute video recording of their presentation was submitted, and the team’s market study was among the Top 10 to be shortlisted for the finals, held on 14 Nov 2021. The finals comprised a “live” presentation to a panel of three distinguished judges, followed by a Q&A session to seek further clarity on their market study. The team impressed the judges with their presentation and handled the Q&A session with confidence.

The 7th STR Global Market Study Competition was open to all universities and colleges, this year was the 2nd time conducted virtually. There was a total of 26 teams from institutions globally participating in the undergraduate category. The competition is a fantastic learning opportunity for every student studying hospitality business. STR provides premium data benchmarking, analytics and marketplace insights for the global hospitality industry.
