What is Service-Learning?

At RP, we do not only aim to produce industry-ready graduates. We also want to nurture compassionate, civic-minded individuals who will serve their communities.

Service-Learning is an extension of our Problem-based Learning approach towards teaching, and combines hands-on learning with community service.

Through our service-learning projects, SOI students use – and practise – the knowledge and skills they learn at school, such as effective customer and user communications, to address genuine community needs.

In addition to enriching our own students’ learning experience, our service-learning projects also cater to the needs of the poor, the elderly, the handicapped, and even the environment.

The students also taught them how to surf the Internet on their phone and use various social media apps, such as Whatsapp and Youtube, so that they can keep mentally and socially active and enrich their lives.

In addition to applying the effective user communication strategies they learned in class, DBA students also learned lessons in patience when dealing with the elderly and less tech-savvy demographics.
