Congratulations to our Programme Chair (Work-Study Programmes), Ms Irene Tan, for winning the coveted Teaching Excellence Award 2020/21! This award is the pinnacle recognition for her efforts in championing lifelong learning initiatives for students and teaching staff.

Throughout her career that spans over 20 years, data analytics has always been an area of interest, alongside IT service management, IT projects, and applications support. Eager to share her knowledge and help students navigate the digital economy, Irene is actively involved in Republic Polytechnic’s Continuing Education Training (CET) efforts where she teaches both short and full-qualification courses related to data analytics.

In Irene’s words, “I believe in bringing real world problems into the classroom for learners to experience the relevance and immediacy of applying their learning. This immediate reward helps learners stay engaged and motivated in learning.”

Outside of class, she is a Peer Coach and also flew the RP flag high by representing RP in the international space, such as at ISATE 2020 and 2021 Technical Program Committee. She is also an active researcher and collaborator for Active Research Funded Projects.

Well done, Irene!
