For Koh Jing-Kai, RP's Applied Learning Module (ApLM) wasn’t just another short course - it was a life-changing spark. His experience with RP’s "Outsmart the Hacker" ApLM while he was still in secondary school ignited a passion for cybersecurity. This early exposure didn’t just introduce him to the field; it inspired a clear vision of his future. Motivated to delve deeper, Jing-Kai chose RP’s Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (DISM), a decision that ultimately earned him the prestigious IMDA Gold Medal.

Why Cybersecurity?

The ApLM offered Jing-Kai a practical understanding of cybersecurity’s challenges and importance, inspiring him to explore the field further. He found RP’s problem-based learning approach and DISM’s comprehensive curriculum the perfect platform to gain both technical expertise in areas like programming and network security and essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Beyond the Classroom

Jing-Kai’s growth didn’t stop at the classroom. As an IT Auditor Intern at RSM Singapore, he gained hands-on industry experience and honed his problem-solving abilities. He also excelled as a Student Leader during RP Orientation 2023, helping freshmen feel welcomed and confident in their new environment.

Advice for Future Students

“Be open-minded and proactive,” he advises. Jing-Kai’s journey proves that a spark of interest, nurtured by the right environment, can lead to extraordinary achievements.
