“We presented FINBOT, an AI-driven platform for financial advisors that combines speech analytics with compliance scanning to detect potential risks,” explains SOI student Ng Wei Jun. “Our innovative solution also pulls the latest news to draft personalised client emails with investment advice automatically.”
Team Octonauts — led by Wei Jun alongside teammates Lucas Quek and Zavier Chua, recently celebrated their Category Runner-Up win in the Intelligent Banking category (sponsored by HSBC) at the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon! As the only RP team to achieve a podium finish, the team attributed their success to the synergy of their different diplomas. Lucas and Wei Jun bring expertise from the Diploma in Business Information Systems (now Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics), while Zavier contributes his specialised knowledge from the Diploma in Financial Technology.
“Many modules in our curriculum strengthened my research skills and helped me to understand different components needed for web development, from cloud engines to maintenance costs,” Lucas reflects. “As we combined our insights from our different diplomas, this competition taught us that understanding the target audience is key to creating meaningful solutions,” Zavier adds.
