Congratulations to Kei Kuan and her team for emerging as Runner-Up in the recent GovTech’s GeekOut 2022 Technology Bootcamp!

Held over the mid-semester break between 13-17 June, GeekOut 2022 is a five-day outreach event for young aspiring engineers to learn more about how we can solve problems for the public good with technology. The team of Diploma in Infocomm Security Management students took part in hackathons and workshops, and worked with GovTech mentors to tackle real-world challenges and public issues.

They presented the idea of creating a mobile app to assist the visually-impaired in their day-to-day transportation needs. Users could make use of voice commands such as saying the bus service number and the bus stop number for disembarkation, and these would then be relayed to the Bus Captain prior to their stop for a more seamless and convenient experience.

The idea won the applause of the panel of judges as it proved to be useful particularly in places and situations where guide dogs are not allowed. Well done students!
