Our team of SOI students took part in the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) Splash Awards 2021 and came in 1st under the Challenge Sub-theme for Transport, and won the overall 1st Runner-Up in the Tertiary Category. The awards were presented virtually by Guest-of-Honour Mr Tan Kiat How, Minister of State for Communications and Information, with SCS President Dr Chong Yoke Sin.
In fulfilling this year’s competition theme on “How will Digital Intelligence & Cloud transform Singapore in a Post-Pandemic World”, the team’s Smart Parking solution employs digital intelligence and cloud technologies, and attempts to revolutionise the management of carparks with functionalities that include: gantry-free registration of car arrivals and departures, detection of unauthorised parking and congestion, analysis of carpark lots utilisation for possible on-demand pricing, reservation of carpark lots and alerting hosts of guest arrival, as well as the adoption and reservation of mobile charging robots for EV charging.
