RP Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Training Centre

The RP Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Training Centre was launched in January 2017 by Republic Polytechnic (RP) – the first dedicated drone training facility among Singapore’s institutes of higher learning. 

RP first began offering basic two-day training courses to professionals from both the public and private sector in March 2015. 

Spurred by the growing interest and usage of drones by hobbyists and industry professionals alike, we have since expanded our range of courses to cater to different needs. 

Our basic courses, for instance, teach you how to assemble and fly a UAV or capture crisp aerial shots on video.

Other courses are industry-focused and cover topics like thermal imaging, search and rescue, and mapping and photogrammetry.

All our courses are taught by RP instructors from the School of Infocomm (SOI), School of Engineering (SEG) and School of Technology for the Arts (STA). Certifications are awarded at the end of each course.

Jointly designed by SOI and SEG, the RP UAV Training Centre features:

  • A 118m2 laboratory

  • An extensive suite of flight simulators

  • State-of-the-art video editing software

  • Thermal and high-resolution cameras

  • A fleet of over 50 drones, the largest with a wing span of 1 metre

  • A football field, measuring 110m by 74m, for outdoor training
