Mark TaySenior LecturerRP School of Engineering Mr Mark Tay loves his drones. Being an avid aero-model hobbyist, he keeps himself updated with developments in the commercial drone industry to keep his lessons current and relevant. His enthusiasm for drones goes beyond that! At RP SEG, our lessons are meticulously crafted to ensure that students acquire valuable knowledge to excel with this technology. He shares, “The drone industry is heavily regulated and continuously evolving with new-age technologies. Through the programmes under the RP SEG, I hope that students will learn about these regulations and understand how drone technologies can be widely used in various industry sectors.”
David SimSenior LecturerRP School of Engineering Mr David Sim brings over 25 years of drone flying expertise to his role as an Unmanned Aircraft Trainer. His fascination with flying machines, nurtured from a young age, led him to pursue formal radio-controlled (RC) plane training in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His love for RC flying, including RC helicopters and quadcopters, motivated him to seize the opportunity to become an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) trainer at RP, turning his lifelong passion into a fulfilling career. The most rewarding aspect of his role is witnessing trainees, who often start with little to no knowledge about drones, graduate with a professional Unmanned Aircraft Pilot Licence (UAPL). David finds immense satisfaction in sharing his experiences with trainees, as well as learning from their journeys.
Javen TeoLecturerRP School of Engineering With a remarkable 15-year career in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), Mr Javen Teo gained invaluable experience managing aircraft resources, manpower, and developing training programmes. This experience paved the way for him to nurture the next generation of drone pilots and guide adult learners in the aerospace industry. Javen's journey into unmanned aircraft training was sparked by his own passion for flying drones and the desire to guide others navigate the challenges he once faced as a self-taught pilot. For Javen, the most rewarding aspect of his role lies in witnessing his trainees' growth and development throughout their training. He takes pride in their journey, especially when they attain the Unmanned Aircraft Pilot Licence (UAPL) and embark on exciting careers in the drone industry.
Khairul RusydiLecturerRP School of Engineering Mr Khairul Rusydi, a seasoned drone pilot with 15 years of experience, transitioned from his hobby in remote control aircraft to a career as an Unmanned Aircraft Trainer. With a background as an Unmanned Aircraft Pilot and Engineer in various companies, he brings extensive expertise in unmanned aircraft operations. In his role as a trainer, Khairul finds fulfillment in teaching beginners and empowering them to operate drones with confidence. His dedication goes beyond the classroom, and he takes pride in mentoring his students, some of whom have successfully secured positions as unmanned aircraft pilots.
