Hawker, a production by The Second Breakfast Company describes the culture of traditional hawker centres which started in the 1970s. 

The FYP team set out to bring the artistic vision to life, from concept to construction. The project included a 1:50 scaled model box inclusive of set, props and set dressing, colour palette and estimated budget, detailing the projection of sourced materials. Their design was adapted for the performance that was staged at Aliwal Arts Centre in November 2019.

The FYP team created a marketing campaign for Happy Waiting, a theatre production by Grain Performance & Research Lab. The marketing campaign aimed to encourage book lovers, especially Samuel Beckett’s enthusiasts, to watch theatre performances. From curated social media content to collateral designs, the team produced materials that allowed audiences to create their own interpretations of Happy Waiting.

Happy Waiting is a story that explores issues like depression and loneliness with a tint of dark humour. Inspired by Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days  &  Waiting for Godot, the play portrayed the representation of one who is trapped, immobilised and paralysed with adversity. Through this production, the FYP team heightened the experience of audiences through lighting, sound, set, props and costume designs.

Heritage Trail for Children with Special Needs

For the first time, STA and SHL students joined forces to create a heritage trail for students from the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN). Collaborating with the National Heritage Board and held at the Asian Civilisation Museum, this was the first heritage trail to be organised by students for students with special needs.

The marketing campaign for Nam Hwa Opera aimed to promote Teochew Opera to youths aged 15 to 35. The team used a series of short videos, designed collaterals and interesting content to educate viewers about traditional Teochew culture. Their theme revolved around aesthetics and antiquity, as they wanted to fuse tradition with a current-day sensibility.

HouseKey is an interactive project created and built to encourage family bonding through interaction and communication. The project aimed to remind families of the importance of time spent together and how precious it is. HouseKey uses umbrellas to signify the idea of returning to your family after facing a setback. The simple activity of making keychains together is a symbolic reminder that families will always be there for us, no matter what.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is an approach to learning to guide children’s inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking.

Children enjoy learning through activation of their senses - touch, sight, smell, hearing and balance. Using a multi-sensory installation, the children learn about one of Singapore’s endangered species, the pangolins. They get to experience the “jungle” through the installation and look for puzzle pieces to “find” the endangered pangolin.

Riley’s Rain is a multi-sensory performance, which reached out to audience with diverse needs. The team was in charge of creating awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and planning outreach programmes. They also worked closely with the production teams for the performance to create a safe and sensorial experience for the diverse audience. Prior to the performance, the team also conducted an outreach programme at Rainbow Centre (Woodlands) to allow the students to familiarise themselves with the story.

Riley’s Rain had 21 runs between July to September 2019 in Singapore, JB and KL, and was performed to at least six beneficiaries.

Riley’s Rain was a collaborative project between DMR Production’s CausewayEXchange, Operation Theatre and DATM that aimed to increase accessibility and inclusion in the world of Theatre. The multi-sensory production enabled audiences with Special Needs, specifically children on the Autism Spectrum, to experience Theatre. Devised and designed with immersion and interaction in mind, the group produced and created sensory environments, as well as tactile costumes and props that allowed for a truly audience-centric experience.

Riley’s Rain is a multi-sensory performance specially designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The project was to transform an existing theatre space into a safe environment for the children to explore.

The team designed and produced the sets, props and costumes for the performance. They also used various materials of different textures, shapes and sizes for the children to interact with.

Riley’s Rain had 21 runs between July to September 2019 in Singapore, JB and KL, and was performed to at least six beneficiaries.
