In collaboration with DMPD, the team produced @Samantha, a 15-minute short thriller film created for MeWatch - rebranded Toggle. Through the story of Samantha, a 19-year-old social media enthusiast, the film depicts ways through which social media makes people vulnerable. DSA team undertook the task of location sound recording, sound designing and audio post production. Every detail of the sound was carefully crafted with the best possible quality in mind, ensuring that the film is engaging and enjoyable.

Audio Book Conversion

The project is a collaboration between DSA and Ethos Publishing which involves the conversion of the books of Interpreter Of The Winds and The Day The Music Died to enhanced audio books. Various creative approaches were used in the process of conversion, including directing the voice talents as part of realistic characterisation. Besides the narration, original sound effects were added at specific points to place emphasis on specific scenes in the book.

Calming Intervention System using Multi-Sensory Feedback

In collaboration with a School of Engineering FYP team, the project team created a compilation of calming Alpha Wave music to be used with a Haptic Mat. This therapeutic device is developed for Lighthouse School, an institution catered to students with various learning disabilities. It aims at calming students through the use of transducers that emit vibration in synchronicity with the music.

Collaborating with IMBA Interactive - a local game development company, this project involves creating and editing audio that strives to instil authenticity in a game. The project adopted a professional Foley’s setup that features recording via three different microphone positions. The team sourced for props, such as pebbles to generate rocks sound effects, and cassette tapes for grassy sounds - resulting in a compilation of close to a thousand sound effects.

This project team collaborated with students from Diploma in Game Design (DGD) to improve the sonic aspects of the game E.L.I.J.A.H. for Housing Development Board.

This game aims to teach children the classic Singaporean value of “Kampong Spirit”. Producing crunchy sound effects that empower actions and music inspired by beloved local tunes, their work catches the air of familiarity that is uniquely ours as Singaporeans to further immerse the player in an already engaging game.

GEMM Music Showcase 2020

Live Sound Engineering

GEMM Music Showcase 2020 is a live sound project that features five local bands playing a variety of music at an indoor venue. The event featured the musical talent of these performers as well as the backend capability of the live sound project team. The project team fulfilled the setup specifications, provided real time audio monitoring, mixing and overall audio enhancement to the production.

Republic Polytechnic Open House is an event that spans three days where various performances are featured around the RP campus. The project team was engaged to provide live sound reinforcements at the main event stage. The team fulfilled the technical requirements, managed stage set-up changes for various musical performances, and enabled an immersive sonic experience for the audience.

The project team collaborated with Riley’s Rain’s director and DATM to develop the soundscape. It involved the creation of a sensory-friendly, immersive audio experience for children with special needs. Through the use of various sound elements such as music and ambient sound effects, the team successfully engaged children with special needs, and brought public awareness to these conditions.

Soundtrack Composition for Singapore Hospice Council

Music Production

Working with Singapore Hospice Council, the project team composed and recorded five original songs. These musical works strive to raise awareness among the youth the importance of palliative care. They will be featured at the council’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner, in the marketing materials on social media platforms, and outreach events.

n collaboration with DMPD, the team produced Struggles, a short film produced for MeWatch - rebranded Toggle. It tells the story of a boy who skipped his tuition to attend a film shoot in an attempt to seek a breakthrough as an actor. This film appeals to youths who are enthusiastic and passionate for life by offering fresh perspectives and ideas on kinships and professional opportunities. In collaboration with the DMPD students, the DSA team undertook the task of location sound recording, sound designing and audio post production for this film.
