What You Will Learn

To understand the nature of diseases and how to tackle them, you must first comprehend how diseases develop in the human body. The Diploma in Biomedical
Sciences (DBMS) will teach you the essentials of human anatomy, different diseases and their corresponding treatments, preparing you for a rewarding career in the healthcare industry.


Both of our specialist tracks, Biomedical Research and Medical Laboratory Technology, will give you access to our state-of-the-art facilities and powerful diagnostic technology for rigorous practical training. You will also be exposed to cutting-edge research when you embark on industry attachments at leading institutions such as the National University of Singapore and A*STAR research laboratories.

During his time at RP, Kenneth consistently made the Academic Roll of Honour and received the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science. But these achievements would not have been possible if not for his determination to succeed and commitment to hard work.

Kenneth wasn’t sure that junior college was quite right for him. Realising he wanted to pursue his true passion — medical science — he made the decision to transfer to RP and enrol in SAS. RP’s environment and Problem-based Learning (PBL) approach kept him engaged and motivated during his first semester and he worked hard, determined to prove that he was truly passionate about Biomedical Sciences.

His excellent results convinced his parents that this was his true path. Kenneth is currently studying and training to be a doctor at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The course structure consists of general, discipline and specialisation modules. There is also an industry orientation component.

Further Studies

RP graduates are well-placed to embark on meaningful careers, immediately after graduation. They could even improve their employability by taking part-time courses or SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programmes (ELPs).

What’s more, every RP diploma is recognised and has a pathway leading to a relevant degree with top local and overseas universities. RP graduates may complete their degrees in just over two or three years in a four-year programme.

Skills Deepening
