Four teams of RP Diploma in Green Building Energy Management (DGEM) students participated in the recent Energy Innovation Challenge 2017 held in Suntec Convention Centre on 19 to 21 July 2017.

The Energy Innovation Challenge is an annual competition for students from Secondary Schools, Junior Colleges, Polytechnics and ITEs to work with professional engineering and business mentors to design or invent a product to solve and demonstrate the use of an alternative source of energy.

After rounds of intense competition with other teams from all five polytechnics and ITEs, a team emerged 2nd runner-up and was awarded a Popularity prize while two other teams also walked away with a Merit prize for their outstanding ideas and innovation.

These were the results of the hard work put in by the DGEM students who have spent close to five months in coming up with an innovative solution to mitigate the issue of Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect.
